Elder Hadley struggles with his faith in God, yet on the first day of his Mormon mission, he is thrown right into teaching something he doesn’t believe in. Elder Bean, his companion, loves the gospel and is pious. Elder Peck is gay, in a world where his church condemns homosexuality. Elder Stout is the everyman’s man, charming, cool, and friends with everybody. The pilot episode centers around Elder Hadley on the first few days of his mission where he is challenged at every turn by his over zealous trainer companion, Elder Bean. One day while knocking doors, Elder Hadley meets Melanie, a girl that he is able to connect with. Unfortunately, he is instructed not to teach her because it is against the mission rules to teach to single girls. Elder Stout pushes Elder Hadley to teach her anyway, yet when Elder Bean finds out, all of Elder Hadley’s fears of being a Mormon missionary come to light.
